Details

Presented simultaneously in varied adaptations across multiple locations in Frankfurt in 2021 – including the River Main, Römer Courtyard, and Dreikönigskirche – This Too Shall Pass is a multichannel sound installation reflecting on collective memory, resilience, and the transient nature of global events. At its core is a lyrical framework developed through an extensive data-mining process of major international news headlines from the tumultuous year 2020. The extracted keywords operate simultaneously as conceptual anchors and aesthetic material, grounding the work in a shared emotional landscape shaped by crisis and uncertainty.

These keywords form the basis of a musical composition, transforming fragments of global news into an evocative auditory experience. Distributed across multiple sound channels, the composition invites contemplation on the fleeting yet consequential nature of historical moments.

Extending beyond sound, the same keywords are reinterpreted visually as graphic symbols and woven into textiles and banners. This material translation introduces a tactile and spatial dimension, allowing language, data, and memory to take physical form. Through the convergence of sound, text, and textile, the installation creates an environment in which temporal, auditory, and material registers of memory coexist.
