About
Emeka Ogboh works with sound as the central material of his practice, using it as a primary means of engaging with place, memory, and social experience. From this sonic foundation, his work extends into other sensory registers – taste, smell, sight, and touch – through immersive installations and culinary projects.
His practice examines how private and collective memories, histories, and cultural knowledge are translated, transformed, and encoded into sensory experience. By centering sensory experience as a site of meaning, Ogboh addresses questions of migration, globalization, and post-colonial histories through embodied encounters rather than representational narratives.
Ogboh’s work has been presented at international exhibitions, including São Paulo Biennial (2025), Sharjah Biennale (2019), documenta 14 in Athens and Kassel (2017), Skulptur Projekte Münster (2017), the 56th edition of La Biennale di Venezia (2015), and the Dakar Biennale (2014).
